Following restrictions on movement put in place by the UK Government, UKA and the Home Country Athletics Federations have made the following updates to their previous statement – originally issued on 17 March:
‘Extending the suspension of all athletics activity in England to the 31 May. This suspension includes all organised athletics activity in the UK, including all formal club activities, running groups, and all Education activity (coach, official, teacher).
Additional suspension specific to athletics competitions in England to 30 June (Initially this was incorporated into the above overarching suspension to the end of May but the suspension of licensed competition activity has now been extended).
Strengthening the position on coaching activity – UKA are now mandating that all physical coaching ceases, and only be conducted via virtual means during this period. Bringing groups of people together to train, however small, can no longer be permitted under the strict ‘Stay at home’ measures implemented by the UK Government.’
This means that all Jarrow and Hebburn AC activities, including training sessions, junior athletics, running groups, social events and meetings, including the Club Annual General Meeting, are suspended until 31 May at the earliest. All races and athletics competitions involving the Club and its members are now suspended until at least 30 June.
Jarrow and Hebburn AC have also taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Cock Crow 5k race and Junior Fun Run, which was originally scheduled for 21 July. The race will not take place in 2020 and will return on the provisional date of Tuesday 20 July 2021.
