U15 Success on Town Moor, again! The Under 15 boys team tasted success in the Heaton Harriers memorial race on the Newcastle Town Moor again this year. Shaun Barras in 1st, George Lowry in 2nd and Matthew Fearn in 6th ensured that the team held on to the trophy from last year. The success is made more remarkable by the fact that these lads have only just moved up from the U13 category with all of last years winning U15 team now competing at U17 level! Our new U17s also tasted success with Jack Moore coming first and Greg Ritchie 2nd. Sadly Chris Bunn was mssing through injury otherwise we would surely have picked up that trophy as well. Roll on next year!

silver medallist Nicholas Wood achieved silver in the under 15's Scottish National Combined events held on the 10th and 11th February 2007. After winning the 60m hurdles in 9.77 and with a high jump of 1.48 Nick was looking towards medal success. He secured the silver after a hard fought second place in the 800m with 2.26. Andrew Harle was also looking towards medal success but unfortunately had to pull out of the 800m, giving him 7th place. Ashleigh Stone led the field with the best long jump of 5.00m, and she achieved fifth place in the Under 15 girl's. Well done all three. |

Storm To Victory In Young Athletes League! Jarrow & Hebburn snatched a dramatic last-gasp victory in round 2 of the Young Athletes League North 2 North East match at Monkton on Sunday with the result in the balance until the very last few events. The match started well for Jarrow with victories for the home club in the U13 girl's 150m and U17 men's 200m on the track and the U15 Girl's Long Jump in the field events. However by the halfway stage of the match Jarrow were down in 3rd place trailing leaders Scarborough by over 40 points. Victories for Jarrow in the U17 men's 100m Hurdles, U15 girl's and U17 men's 100m plus wins in the u13 boy's shot, u15 boy's Long Jump and High Jump helped claw Jarrow back into second place. Victory, however, still seemed unlikely before a storming performance in the relay events with the home club winning an incredible 8 out of 9 races contested. In the end Jarrow won the match by 13 points with a truly all-round team performance. We now lead the N2NE league and victory in the next match (also at Monkton) on 4th June will virtually guarantee promotion to the North 1 East division.
